The Hammer On is a Technique from the Legato/Slur family. In this Technique you will have to play a note by “Hammer” the fret. This technique can be easily explained with an example. You can use this Technique on Electric, Classical and Acoustic Guitar.

Let’s take it step by step: The first note (C) will be played with a Down-Stroke. As you see on the Tab, there is a tight that connect the first note to the second (D note). Play the C with a down-stroke and hammer the D note on the 3rd fret. Usually, when you read the Tab you will find a little H below the note played with the Hammer On.
On the second Bar you have another example of Hammer On. We are playing an F and G note. The F will be played with a Down-Stroke and the G with a Hammer on.
