In this exercise 1 we can start familiarizing with this technique. It is a quite simple exercise based on a major scale played on one string up and down the neck. Each note will be played with the slide. Follow these key points.
- Practice this exercise on the other strings.
- Use index, middle, ring and little finger.
- Make sure the slide sounds good (watch video tutorial).
- The Slide must be performed in one quick movement.
- Don’t drag the finger too slowly or too fast.
- Pick the note with a downstroke every four notes.
Once you have learned this exercise, make sure you repeat it on the other strings. Play it symmetrically starting form the 3rd fret. When we perform the exercise on the first string we are playing a C major scale. Learn also the other keys.
- Exercise on the 6th string – G major scale.
- Exercise on the 5ht string – C major scale.
- Exercise on the 4th string – F major scale.
- Exercise on the 3rd string – Bb major scale
- Exercise on the 2nd string – D major scale
- Exercise on the 1st string – G major scale
Remember to play the exercise following the same structure as the one explained to you on the video tutorial.
This exercise is suitable for Electric, Acoustic and Classical Guitar!!
