WELCOME TO “JUST PLAY ALONG.”
In this course, you will learn how to play simple melodies in different keys and styles. For example, the first melody is played in the key of C major, and it is arranged in a pop acoustic style.
Each melody is played four times. Each time with more notes and rhythm. If you are new to playing melodies, always start with the first one and practice the variations whenever you feel ready.
The melodies come with a play-along backing track. Once you learned the melody, you can play the melody along with the backing track to test your technique, rhythm, and control.
Why should I play along with the backing track, Marco?
Playing along with the backing track can improve many aspects of your playing. When we play by ourselves, it’s easy to speed up and slow down without knowing it. Most of the time, we go faster when the notes are easy and slow down when things are tough. The backing track keeps you in line!
What’s the difference between the backing track and the metronome?
That’s a good question! A metronome is a great tool that teaches you how to play in time. However, it can be tedious to practice along with a monotonous click. On the other hand, the backing track gives you the same steady rhythm and chords and music contest. In my opinion, it’s much more fun to play a melody along with a backing track.
Who’s this course for?
This course is perfect for intermediate fingerstyle players. I did my best to keep the melody simple (that’s why you have four variations). The best way to know if this course is for you is to give it a try. If you find yourself struggling, move on to something easier.
Can I integrate this course with something else?
Absolutely. This course follows the same structure as “Scales, Arpeggios, and Musical Ideas.” In this course, I teach you how to play scales in different keys. If you have time, you could first learn the C major scale. Then, you could come back to Just Play Along and put it into practice.
How many melodies will I learn?
There are 11 melodies available in this course. Each module consist of two videos:
- Video 1. Introduction
- Video 2. Lesson.
