How I Write Music When I Have ZERO Inspiration

31/12/2019 Posted by BlitzGuitarAdmin Uncategorized

Let’s face it, guys! Ideas don’t just blow up inside your brain every single minute of the day. There are moments where you have to write music, but you feel uninspired!

So, where do you go when you need to find the initial idea for your music. In this guitar lesson, I am going to show you the system that I use all the time to get started with a musical idea when I have zero inspiration.

I call it “Rational songwriting!” and as for any other thing we learn on this channel, it starts by simplifying things as much as possible.

Now, music is a combination of three elements: Melody, Harmony, and Rhythm.

In the example I played at the beginning of the video, I combined these three elements in the most simple way possible.

So, the melody was just a D major scale. The Harmony, just a bass note. And the rhythm only a simple percussive pattern.

Once we simplify each element, writing, songwriting, and even just noodling around with a musical idea becomes easier. Once we have the initial idea for our song, we can then use our skills, technique, and knowledge to add more elements to the song.

We can build different levels of songwriting, and in this lesson, I am going to show you the one that I like to use to get started.

Good luck!
