Hey guys, welcome to another Blues lesson. Today we are going to approach a minimalist and straightforward Blues. We will try to play Blues with fewer notes.
The last Blues lesson I posted was about the Melodic Blues in C. You guys loved it, but it was quite busy on chords. Also, the melody was played with the thumb-slap and strum technique, which can be quite challenging.
Today we will try to do the opposite and approach the Blues in the most simple way possible.
Now, when you step down to simple, you have to give 100% in tone and dynamic. Playing just a few notes can be way more difficult than playing fast sequences of notes because you have to interpret each note with purpose.
We will discuss that throughout the lesson.
I will link my Blues playlist down below, so make sure you check it out if you want instant access to more Blues lesson!
Let’s get started.
We are playing Blues in E, one of the most popular Blues on guitar, so I am pretty sure you are already familiar with the chords.
