Who’s this course for?
This course is perfect for beginner fingerstyle players.
Who’s a beginner fingerstyle player, Marco?
A beginner fingerstyle player is a guitar player who is new to fingerstyle. If you have been playing guitar for a while and you know basic chords and the strumming technique, but you know very little about fingerstyle, then you can consider yourself a beginner fingerstyle player. So, a beginner fingerstyle player is not a beginner guitar player.
What’s the difference between Practical Fingerstyle and 7 Steps to Fingerstyle Guitar? They look similar.
Practical Fingerstyle is a little “lighter” than 7 Steps to Fingerstyle Guitar. It has fewer songs, and it mainly focuses on the fingerstyle technique.
THUMB MOVEMENT
In week one, you will learn how to pluck the strings with the thumb.
We will start by learning the thumb position and how to correctly pluck the strings.
We will then put the thumb technique into practice and learn a beautiful Spanish melody.

PLUCKING WITH INDEX AND MIDDLE FINGER
HOW TO PLUCK WITH THE THUMB
This week we will learn the alternate fingering technique. With this approach, we pluck the strings with the index and middle finger continuously.
The alternate fingering is the number one technique for beginner fingerstyle players.
In the song below, you will learn how to perform this technique on the E string. In addition, we will learn how to play a powerful melody in the key of E minor.
The goal is to improve your plucking technique on one string before moving on multiple strings.

DEVELOP FINGER STRETCH
This week we will take a look at how to stretch your left hand fingers to help you playing chords and melody better and easier.
We will start by learning a simple yet effective stretchy exercise that will show you how to slowly widen your fingers.
You will also learn how to implement your left hand finger whcih is usually considered the weakest finger. It goes without saying that implementig the little finger into your playing will improve not only your left hand technique but also your muscle memory and creativity.
We will also take a look at two songs that will help you stretch your fingers with a smile on your face.

UNDERSTAND RHYTHMIC VALUES
AND IMPROVE YOUR RHYTMIC SKILLS
Let’s keep working on your finger stretch with a new exercises and another lovely song.
The finger stretch exercise you will learn today is based on the popular 1234 mechanical exercises that all guitar players use when they are beginners. There is always a mixture of love and hate with this type of exercise. We know they are essential for your fingers development however these exercxies can also become boring very quickly.
My suggestion is: Only dedicate a few minutes to these exercises. No more than that!

HOW TO PLUCK MULTIPLE STRINGS
Let me know show you how to pluck multiple strings at the same time. We will begin by focuisng on two strings plucking.
This approach is going to instantly add two thing in your playing:

13. Song 7. Italian Waltz.
THE TREMOLO TECHNIQUE
This week I want to talk to you about one of the fascinating guitar techniques I know: The tremolo technique.
With this technique, we pluck the bass note of a chord with the thumb followed by three repeated high notes played with the ring, middle, and index finger. It’s a beautiful technique that I am sure you will love!
In this lesson, we will look at a simplified tremolo technique performed with the thumb, middle, and index finger (we will learn the ring finger out).
Enjoy this technique!

CHROMATIC APPROACH
CLASSICAL MUSIC TO TRANSFORM
YOUR FINGERSTYLE TECHNIUQE
Approaching notes chromatically is one of the best ways to improve your technique, coordination, and control.
A chromatism occurs when we play two or more semitones. The semitone is the smallest interval there is in music. An interval is a distance between two notes.
On the guitar, a semitone is the distance of one fret. For example, C to C# is a semitone. On the guitar, the note C can be played on the second string fret one while the C# on fret 2. This interval is called a semitone.
A chromatic melody occurs when we combine two or more semitones.
Trust me! It’s easier to play than to explain!
