In this exercise we are going to familiarize with the Alternate Picking technique. For me, the best way to practice this technique is by using symmetrical patterns with two or three notes per sting. You can apply it on Pentatonic and Major/Minor scales as well as repetitive patterns. In this exercise we will work on a two notes pattern on two strings.
Key Point:
- Hold the index finger (left hand) down and stretch fingers.
- Lean the right hand palm on the bridge and use a wrist movement
- Use a metronome or Drum loop. You should write down the starting speed in Bpm. In one week time, you should be able to speed up the exercise consistently.
- If you are a beginner, practice this exercise really slow. No more that 4/5 minutes.
- The left hand should move as less as possible.
- Watch the video tutorial if you need more info about this exercise (recommended)
