Hey guys, today I want to show you how to play a simple acoustic guitar solo in 4 different steps over a reggae backing track.

The goal is to play the solo using a different musical element in each step. We will be using:

• Step 1. Melody with the D major scale.
• Step 2. Melody in thirds.
• Step 3. Melody with arpeggios.
• Step 4. Melody with a descending scale.

The backing track is played with a simple chord progression in D major: D A Bm G D A G. We will also use the D major scale to write all the musical ideas.

The chord progression is great for playing simple stuff. I recommend that you learn how to play each section slowly before trying to play over the backing track. Also, you can use the same musical element over the entire backing track before moving on to the next one.
