Beautiful Chords and Melody … On Electric Guitar

Hey guys, in this electric guitar lesson I am going to show you how to create beautiful chords and melodies that sound good together.

The goal is to play the melody within the same position of the chord so that we are playing “around the chords”. This is a great exercise because it allows you to simply add additional notes to the chord without changing position.

There are three simple steps to follow.

• Step 1: Learn the chord progression.
• Step 2: Add a simple melody
• Step 2: Move the chords in a different position and play the melody in the same position.

Obviously, you will have to learn the scale inside each position so it could be annoying at the beginning but once you have it memorized I can guarantee you that it will be really fun to play melodies over chords.
