In this exercise you will start building your muscle!! Just like training abs and other parts of your body, fingers need to gain strength and control. This is a quite symmetrical exercise for beginners. If you never used the hammer on technique, this is the exercise you want to start with.
Key Point:
- Practice slow!! If you feel pain stop immediately and rest for couple of days. You shouldn’t get any pain if you practice the exercise correctly. Watch the video tutorial!!
- The volume between the plucked/picked note and the hammered note must be the same. At the beginning you will notice that the hammer on sounds much weaker that the picked note.
- Practice one finger at a time. Day one practice the hammer on with the middle finger, day two hammer on with the middle finger and day three hammer on with the little finger.
- Hold the index finger down all the time!!
