This is a quite cool Technique. Mainly used in Jazz (West Montgomery made it his signature) this technique has been used in many different Styles. What is about? The Octave technique allows you to play two notes on a different octave. Let me show you some Diagrams of the most common Octaves on Guitar.
As you can see this is a quite basic Technique. First thing to do is to memorize the Octave Position. There are many other ways to play Octaves on Guitar but I find that these are the one I use the most. The last Octave, the one with 6th and 1st string, is quite unusual. The first time I saw someone playing it was Bireli Lagrene. Feel free to experiment and find your own way. There will be also some exercises to introduce you to the Technique.
